"Jannat" received widespread critical acclaim with its writing, performances and direction being praised by most critics. It earned over $18 million globally upon release, making it one of Bhatt's most successful films at the domestic box office. The film received six nominations at the Filmfare Awards India including Best Film, Best Actor (Emraan Hashmi) and Best Director. The film also received two nominations at the International Indian Film Academy Awards.
The soundtrack was composed by Jatin-Lalit, while lyrics are penned by Gulzar, Dev Kohli, Sameer. It also became one of the best selling singles of all time in India, selling over 250,000 copies. The film proved to be a financial success at the box office.

Jannat opened to mixed reviews from critics. Rachit Gupta of NDTV gave the film 2 stars out of 5 and said that "the strongest aspect of Kunal Deshmukh’s Jannat is its writing." He further stated that "though the story is not new, one must appreciate the fact that it doesn't feel recycled because Deshmukh's earnestness to wipe off any hint of corruption in his story shows through every line he writes." A critic from Rediff.com wrote that "Kunal Deshmukh completely has a command over narration".
